The Righteous and the Wicked in Work, Speech, and Desire
Proverbs 10 begins Solomon’s short sayings with repeated contrasts between righteous and wicked, wise and foolish, diligent and slack, truthful and lying, generous and grasping. The chapter does not offer a mechanical formula for prosperity; it teaches that the Lord’s moral order reaches into labor, speech, wealth, family, and desire. Jesus saves those whose sin has corrupted these places and forms a people marked by His righteousness and life-giving words.
