Psalm 40: Rescued, Obedient, and Still Crying
Psalm 40 remembers the Lord lifting David from a pit, giving him a new song, and teaching him that obedient delight matters more than empty sacrifice. Yet the same singer is again surrounded by evils and asks for rescue. The psalm directs readers to Jesus, whose willing obedience fulfills God’s purpose and whose saving work gives sinners a new song even while they await final deliverance.
